Aquaball introduction

What is Aquaball?

Aquaball is the perfect introduction to water polo for primary school age children. It’s a fun, energetic session built around games and play, where children build water confidence, learn to move through the water, work as part of a team, and pick up the basic skills of one of the world’s most exciting sports. Beginners and non-swimmers are very welcome - every child is invited to try two free sessions before signing up.

Why Kids Love Aquaball

Sessions are packed with exciting games, mini-matches, races and skill-building activities - all designed to feel like play first and training second. Children pick up ball skills, water movement and teamwork without realising they’re learning, and they leave the pool buzzing. Don’t be surprised when they start asking when the next session is.

Young players training

More Than Just a Sport

Aquaball builds water confidence, fitness, and friendships that last well beyond the pool. Whether your child is splashing for the first time or already loves the water, they’ll learn new skills, try something refreshingly different from typical school sports, and find a sense of belonging in a friendly team. Many of our junior and senior players today started exactly where your child is now - in an Aquaball session.

Aquaball coaches

Our Expert Coaches

Our club has some of the best water polo coaches in the country, including former international players and Team GB level coaches. They have years of experience teaching young children safely and patiently, and every session is structured to be age-appropriate, fun and packed with learning. Your child will be in excellent hands.

What to Bring

All your child needs is ordinary swimwear, a towel, a drink, and plenty of enthusiasm. Everything else - balls, caps, equipment and coaching - is provided by the club. There’s no kit to buy and no special gear to invest in before you know whether they’ll love it.

Swim England Learn to Swim Water Polo Award

Awards and Progress

Our sessions follow the Swim England Learn to Swim awards framework for water polo levels 8, 9 and 10. As your child develops their skills they’ll work through each level, and we hand out physical awards to celebrate every milestone they reach.

Everyone welcome - really! Aquaball is a true beginners’ session. Children of all abilities are welcome, including non-swimmers - our coaches work with each child at their own pace, in safe, shallow water. We’re a fully inclusive club: disabled children, neurodivergent children, children with additional or learning needs, and children of all backgrounds are warmly welcomed. Tell us a little about your child when you get in touch and we’ll work with you to make sure their first session is safe and positive. We’ll always find a way to include your child where we can - and on the rare occasion we can’t safely meet their needs ourselves, we’ll do our best to point you toward a club or programme that can.
