About the Club

Hucknall Water Polo Club is a friendly, community-rooted club based at Hucknall Leisure Centre in Nottinghamshire. Players of every age and ability are welcome. For quick answers to common questions, see our FAQ.

What We Offer

Our coaching team includes former internationals and Team GB level coaches. Former and current Team GB players also train alongside our senior squads.

We’re an inclusive and welcoming club. Children of all abilities, disabled and neurodivergent children, and adults of every level are welcome - we’ll always find a way to include you wherever it’s safe to do so.

Our mens and womens senior squads compete in the British Water Polo League and local leagues. Our masters squad is for older players who want to keep playing - whether to compete, train, or just stay fit.

Our junior section is open to players up to age 18, and Aquaball is a fun, splash-filled introduction to the sport for primary school age children.

For more on the club’s deeper roots - including water polo’s history in the Hucknall area - see our Heritage page.

Every new player is welcome to come along for two free trial sessions. View our weekly schedule or get in touch to book yours.

Club Management

Once you’ve joined, day-to-day club administration runs through Spond - the app we use for session sign-ups, communication with players, parents and carers, photo and video consent, and medical declarations. You’ll be invited to join the relevant Spond group when you sign up, and parents and carers manage their child’s profile and consent settings directly in the app. We also use WhatsApp for day-to-day chat alongside Spond, and we’re happy to use email if neither works for you.

Club documents, including the club constitution, are available to members in Spond. The constitution and all relevant policy documents are also shared with prospective members during the Spond sign-up process, so you can read them in full before agreeing to them.

Accreditations

We are proud to be affiliated with Swim England and accredited under the Swim Mark quality standard - the national framework for safe, well-run aquatic clubs.
