About the Squad
Our masters squad is a friendly home for older players who want to keep playing - or start playing - water polo at a pace that suits them. Some of our masters love the competition, others come purely for the fitness, and others come for the friends and the laughs. All three are equally valid reasons to be in the pool, and there’s no expectation to play in matches if you’d rather just train.
Whether you’re a long-time player who’s never stopped, someone returning to the sport after a few years away, or a first-timer with a swimming background, you’ll find a welcome here.
We train alongside the senior squads. For those who want to compete, we play in masters tournaments and friendly fixtures throughout the year - but there’s no obligation to take part if you’d rather stick to training.
How to Get Involved
If you’re thinking about coming back to water polo - or trying it for the first time as an adult - the easiest way is just to come along. New players get two free trial sessions before deciding to join. Drop us a line and we’ll let you know which session is the right one to start with.
Everyone Welcome - With a Safety Check
Water polo is a fast-paced game played in deep water, so anyone joining the masters squad must be a competent swimmer. Being a strong swimmer doesn’t automatically mean you’re ready for water polo, so coaches will do a short assessment to make sure you’re safe to play. There’s no judgement involved - if you’re not quite ready, we’ll happily sign-post you to local swimming clubs and welcome you back when you are.
